The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("the Government") is concerned to ensure that all personal data submitted through the website of Inland Revenue Department ("the IRD website") are handled in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

The Government will record visits to the IRD website without collecting any personal identifiable information of users. Such general statistics are collected for the compilation of statistical reports and the diagnosis of problems with or concerning computer systems to help the Government improve the IRD website.

For different purposes and at different times you may be invited to provide personal data to the Government through the IRD website on a voluntary basis. Personal information may include name, telephone number, mailing address or e-mail address. The Government will specify the collection purpose and intended usage of your data when it invites you to provide such information and advise you how you may request access to or correction of the personal data provided.

Unless permitted or required by law, the Government will not disclose your personal data to any unauthorized third parties.

All personal data you provide to the Government via the IRD website are secured, and access to them is restricted to authorized personnel only.

Communication between your browser (for example, Internet Explorer) and our servers that involves any personal or confidential data uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology.

Data Collected

Information obtained from you will include data necessary to authenticate your identification and/or data provided by you to complete the necessary online activity. In addition, a limited amount of data will be collected to assist in technical support of the site. This will include the Internet Protocol (IP) number and domain name from where you are accessing the Internet, the date and time of the transaction, and the website referring you to DOR’s website.

If a user allows cookies, DOR may occasionally use them to store user information, subject to the following limitations:

An unidentified hackers’ group has freshly made an attempt to data tamper with the Land Record Management Information System of the Punjab Land Record Authority PLRA.

Exposed by the News channel in its statement on Wednesday and said revealed that the authority improved the data security afterward noticing the hacking attempt.

As per the channel statement, the authority has decided to improve the security features of the
